Ghantasala songs contest on December 4

Preliminary round at zonal level will be held on November 27 at four locations

HYDERABAD: The Department of Culture and State Cultural Council will conduct the `Ghantasala State-level songs' competition to mark the 83rd birth anniversary celebrations of renowned playback singer on December 4.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, Arja Srikanth Director, Department of Culture, and Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, Chairman, State Cultural Council, said that the preliminary round of zonal-level competitions would be held on November 27 at four locations including the city at 10 a.m.

Venue details

The preliminary round would be held at Warangal Pothana Auditorium, in charge, Principal, Government College of Music and Dance (Ph.No. 2426228, 9440419968), Hyderabad Ghantasala Statue, Ravindra Bharathi, (Ph.No.27801788), Vijayawada Ghantasala Music and Dance College, (Ph.No.2432286) and Kurnool Sunayana Auditorium (Ph.No.221860).

The final competitions would be held on December 4 at Telugu Lalitha Kala Thoranam from 3 p.m. onwards for all the zonal-level finalists. All the zonal finalists would be provided with second-class train fare.

The participants would be grouped into juniors (20 years and below) and seniors (Above 20 years) and competitions would be held in solo (male), solo (female) and duet (male and female) and each category would have two prizes.

Cash prize

At the zonal-level, the first prize winner would get Rs. 1,116 cash prize and second prize winner, Rs. 508. At the State level, first prize winner would be awarded Rs. 5,000 and the second prize winner Rs. 3,000.
