Tirupati: వెంగమాంబ వర్ధంతి concludes

TIRUPATI: Multifarious programmes launched by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in connection with the Vardhanthi celebration of the saint poetess తారిగొండ వెంగమాంబ (Tarigonda Vengamamba) came to an end on Thursday. The TTD has organised programmes simultaneously at Tirumala, Tirupati and at Tarigonda near Vayalpadu in Chittoor district .

TTD started the two-day celebrations on Wednesday with a function at the Brindavanam of Vengamamba situatedat Tirumala.

Floral tributes were paid at the grave of the saint-poetess.

Statue unveiled

At Tirupati the TTD and its ‘Mathrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba Vangmaya Project’ jointly unveiled a statue of hers at the railway-underbridge junction.

At Tarigonda, TTD organised a literary meet on her works wherein renowned litterateurs analysed the devotional and the literary nuances of her works.

Among the participants were Samudrala Lakshmaiah, of the TTD’s Purana

Ithihasa Project, K.J. Krishnamurthy in-charge of the Vangmaya Project. Jandhyala Krishakumari rounded-off the day’s programme with a Harikatha on Venkamamba’s life history.

At Tirupati artistes belonging to the TTD’s Annamacharya project rendered kritis of her works while Vedantham Ramalinga Sasthri gave a kuchipudi presentation on Venkamamba’s life profile.
