CHENNAI: Two books covering diverse subjects from spiritualism, literature to national issues authored by Telugu writer Nirmala Palanivelu were released here recently.

Launching the publications at a function organised by the city-based cultural academy జనని (Janani), Andhra Pradesh Minister for Women Development and Child Welfare N. Rajyalakshmi said the contribution of women to Telugu literature was less compared to that of men. More women writers must make a mark in the field of literature, she said.

The author of the books had highlighted spiritual values in ప్రణవ ప్రత్యూషం (Pranava Prathyusham) and alluded to mythology and various epics.

Ms.Rajyalakshmi commended the author’s narrative style in her second book, ‘Ananya Manognyam,’ a compilation of essays and short stories. A lecturer by profession, Ms. Palanivelu, who is also Janani’s president, is actively into social and cultural activities, the Minister said. The occasion also marked the inauguration of a modern art exhibition of Sureka Muralimohan Reddy. Inaugurating the exhibition, Ms.Rajyalakshmi said the artist had portrayed the scenic beauty of nature in her paintings.

President of All India Telugu Federation, Chennai C.M.K. Reddy and executive director of Hotel Savera Neena Reddy participated.
