Telugu Times Takes Partner, Celebrates Milestone

Dublin, Mar 25, 2008 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Telugu Times, the first global Telugu newspaper published in the US since February 2004, has completed 4 successful years of publication and partnered with CineMaya Media Group, a South Asian Media - Entertainment - Marketing services company in North America.

CineMaya, now the Publishing Partner of Telugu Times, has taken an equity stake in Telugu Times, and will now handle advertising sales, editorial content generation, distribution, marketing, and brand development in North America. The new joint Hyderabad office for Telugu Times and CineMaya Media Group will provide back-end processes, editorial, online, and sales from India, and provide a platform to expand CineMaya's overall business within the region.

A celebratory anniversary event was held at the pool side lawns of Club Jayabheri in Hyderabad, on the evening of Saturday, March 15. Those in attendance included advertisers, advertising agencies, marketing persons, political and film personalities, the Honorable Atluti Subba Rao, President of The Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and film star turned real estate baron Murali Mohan, amongst others.

The Non Resident Telugu Community is the fastest growing community amongst Indians in the US with an estimated population of over 500,000. Telugus play an active role in the American economy and maintain a close bond with their homeland Andhra Pradesh, India.

Jayaram Komati, Chairman, Telugu Times Media said, "We are very happy that Telugu Times has been able to flourish by completing its fourth successful year and has become an important brand among the Telugu families in the US. We are excited that our partnership with CineMaya Media Group will allow us to expand our reach and presence within the community."

Komati is a restaurateur and owner of the Swagat Group of Restaurants, and is a well-known community leader in the US. He is also the President Elect for the Telugu Association of North America (TANA), a nationwide umbrella body of the Telugu community in USA.

Governor launches Telugu daily 'సాక్షి'

HYDERABAD : Governor N.D. Tiwari launched Telugu daily ‘Sakshi’ brought out in 23 multi-coloured editions by Jagati Publication of which Y.S. Jagan, son of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, is chairman, at an impressive function at HICC on Sunday. 

Besides the Chief Minister, B.V. Raghavulu (State CPI-M secretary), K. Narayana (CPI secretary), Bandaru Dattatreya (BJP president), Asaduddin Owaisi, Majlis MP, were among the political leaders who attended. B. Ramalinga Raju, chairman, Satyam Group, launched the daily’s web edition.

M. Veerappa Moily, AICC general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, megastar Chiranjeevi, Akkineni Nagarjuna, N. Srinivasan, Vice-chairman and managing director of India Cements, Pullela Gopichand and Mithali Raj launched the political, glamour, women’s, business and sports pages respectively of the newspaper.

An impressive laser show and a choreographic presentation on evolution of newspapers over the centuries were highlights of the function. Congratulatory messages from Sachin Tendulkar and V.V.S. Laxman were shown on video screen.

NRI భరత్ నల్లూరి on Hollywood horizon

Telugu NRI Bharat Nalluri's Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day has baffled the critics in US. Though it was released with big movies like 10000 BC and The Bank Job, The movie is impressing the audience. Bharat Nalluri, who was born in Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, has directed this film for the first time. He is a director in British Television. His name aand woks are closely associated with production company Kudos Film and Television.

Nalluri's Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day is based on the novel by Winifred Watson written in 1938. The movie deals with the story of a dowdy governess, who finds adventure and love when she works as a starlet's personal assistant for 24 hours. This movie is comedy.

Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day has been directed Bharat Nalluri and produced by Nellie Bellflower and Stephen Garrett. Frances MacDormand, Amy Adams, Lee Pace, Ciaran Hinds, Shirley Henderson, Mark Strong are in the star cast. Paul Englishby has composed the music of the movie.
